Only Admin users with Edit Account Settings and Data set as On can use the CSV Import & Export Tool.
If you have a lot of people or projects that you would like to add in bulk, the CSV Importer is the best way for you to add the data quickly in Runn.
This is a step-by-step guide for setting up your account via the CSV tool.
You can click on the Table of Contents on the right to jump to any section anytime.
1. Set your default account settings
Go to Settings > Account Settings to update your default account settings.
To quickly set up, make sure your account's Currency, hours per day worked by FTE and Default Rate Type are correct.
2. Invite admins and users
If you need a few other collaborators to set up the account with you, head over to Settings > Invite users to add other admins and collaborators to your account.
After setting up the account, you can bulk invite all users with the CSV tool later.
There are different levels of permissions. The account type controls who can do what, while the financial permissions control who can see what.
3. Importing People
People are people who will be assigned to projects in Runn. We will start with preparing your People data in Runn's format.
Refer to the Import/ Export People help article for instructions to import People.
4. Updating Roles, Default Rates and Costs
After importing people, you will notice that a list of new Roles has been created under Manage > Roles.
The current Default Role Rates and Default Role Costs are $0. If you need to use Runn to track your revenue and costs, you need to set up the default rates and costs.
Follow the steps in the Updating Existing Roles, Default Rates and Costs help article to update the default Rates and Costs.
5. Updating Contracts (if you have part-time staff)
All the people default to a full-time contract when they are first imported via the CSV tool.
If you have part-time staff, you can update their current contract to a part-time one.
If there are only a few, you can update the contract information in Runn following the instructions here.
If there are a lot of part-time staff, you can bulk update their contracts via the CSV Importer.
6. Setting up Rate Cards (Optional)
If you need to use rate cards for your projects, you must manually create the rate cards before assigning them to the projects via the CSV uploader.
Refer to the Rate Cards help article to learn more about how to create rate cards.
