Step 1: Creating a Project Template

  1. From the Project Planner, click + New, then select Project Template.

  2. Enter a template name and any relevant project info.

  3. Add people, placeholders, phases, assignments and a budget just like you are planning for a project (Read this article to learn about the basics of scheduling a Project).

πŸƒ Pro Tip:

How does the template record the day of phases, assignments and milestones?

The template will record the day in the week the event falls on, not the date.

e.g. If the phase/assignment in the project template starts on Tuesday, has a milestone on the second Wednesday of the project, every project created from the template will have that milestone on the second Wednesday, regardless of what date the project starts.

Step 2: Viewing a Project Template in the Planner

Once you create a project template, you can view it on the planner under Templates.

The template will automatically be moved forward each week for you to view, regardless of what dates you originally created the phases, assignments and milestones for.

Step 3: Creating a Project from the Template

1. From the Project Planner, click the "+ New" Button on the top left-hand corner

2. Select Project.

3. Check the Use Template box and choose the template from the dropdown.

4. Enter a project name and edit details as necessary.

5. Click Next and select the Monday of the week you would like to start the project.

Click Create.

Alternatively, you can also create a Project from the Project Template 3-dot menu

  1. From the Project Planner, find the project template you want to create a project from.

  2. Click on the 3-dot menu, and select New Project from Template.

  3. Enter a project name and edit details as necessary.

  4. Click Next and select the Monday of the week you would like to start the project.

    Click Create.
