If you need to change the project start date, you can reschedule your project to a different start date.
You cannot reschedule a project that has timesheet data (actuals) against it. You must manually adjust the project to ensure data consistency, or delete the actuals.
What happens if I reschedule a project
Rescheduling projects will immediately shift the workload among project team members. Their remaining availability and utilization will change immediately. Any placeholder demand associated with the project will also shift.
If the project is rescheduled to a time period when project team members have time off, please note that the assignment hours will be automatically reduced. Learn more about the time-off impact on project scheduled hours here.
If you are just experimenting with rescheduling the project, we recommend duplicating the project and setting the duplicate as tentative.
Reschedule the duplicated tentative project to see the effect on people's availability and workload.
When you confirm that you would like to reschedule the project, delete the tentative duplicate and reschedule the original one.
How to reschedule a project
Click on the 3-dot menu on a project from the Project Planner or the 3-dot menu on a project dashboard
Select Reschedule
Choose the week that you want to move the project to
Click the Reschedule button
You can only reschedule projects up to 1 year in the past and 3 years in the future from today's date.
Why can I only reschedule by week?
To avoid issues of assignments being moved over weekends, you must choose the new week you wish to move the project to. i.e., if the first assignment/ milestone/ phase in the project starts on a Wednesday, it will be moved to the Wednesday of the chosen week.
All spacing between assignments and phases will stay exactly the same as in the original plans.
If you need to move the project to start on a different day in the week, manually move the assignments first. You can use enable-multi-select to speed up this process.
