If you need to change the project start date, you can reschedule your project to a different start date.
Rescheduling projects will immediately shift the workload among project team members. Their remaining availability and utilization will change immediately. Any placeholder demand associated with the project will also shift.
You cannot reschedule a project that has timesheet data (actuals) against it. You must manually adjust the project to ensure data consistency, or delete the actuals.
Implication on Project Total (Forecast) Hours
Rescheduling a project may change the project total hours. You can see the Project Total Hours from the Project Dashboard and next to the Budget Tracker:
Placeholder Scheduled Hours may change
When the assignment hours of a placeholder are in the past, it defaults to 0 and is excluded from Project Total Hours. Only placeholder hours that are scheduled after today contribute to the Project Total Hours.
Rescheduling to the future may increase Project Total Hours
If you reschedule the project to the future, the placeholder hours that are originally in the future (scheduled after today) will be included in the Total Hours. This will increase total placeholder hours after rescheduling.
Rescheduling to the past may decrease Project Total Hours
If you reschedule the project to the past, the placeholder hours that are originally now in the past (scheduled before today) will now be excluded from the Total Hours. This will decrease project total hours after rescheduling.
Time Off Overlaps may change Project Total Hours
If there are time-offs overlapping with scheduled assignments, the assignment hours on the time-off dates are excluded automatically. If the time-offs are removed, the scheduled hours will be added back. Learn more about the time-off impact on project scheduled hours here.
Rescheduling to a time period with fewer time off hours
If you reschedule the project to a period with fewer time off hours among your project team members than the time off hours in the original project period, this will increase the project total hours after rescheduling.

If you reschedule the project to a period with more time off hours among your project team members than the time off hours in the original project period, this will decrease the project total hours after rescheduling.
If you are just experimenting with rescheduling the project, we recommend duplicating the project and setting the duplicate as tentative.
Reschedule the duplicated tentative project to see the effect on people's availability and workload.
When you confirm that you would like to reschedule the project, delete the tentative duplicate and reschedule the original one.

Click on the 3-dot menu on a project from the Project Planner or the 3-dot menu on a project dashboard
Select Reschedule
Choose the week that you want to move the project to
Click the Reschedule button
You can only reschedule projects up to 1 year in the past and 3 years in the future from today's date.
Why can I only reschedule by week?
To avoid issues of assignments being moved over weekends, you must choose the new week you wish to move the project to. i.e., if the first assignment/ milestone/ phase in the project starts on a Wednesday, it will be moved to the Wednesday of the chosen week.
All spacing between assignments and phases will stay exactly the same as in the original plans.
If you need to move the project to start on a different day in the week, manually move the assignments first. You can use enable-multi-select to speed up this process.
