Gain a high-level view of workforce utilization over a selected period to assess operational health and efficiency.
✅ Filter people and placeholders using the filters you're familiar with from the planner.
✅ Include placeholders to show the impact of unassigned work.
✅ Toggle all or specific tentative workloads on or off to see their impact on utilization rates.
✅ Turn radial gauges on or off from the settings panel (top right corner).
Calculation information
Total Utilization (%) = (Total Hours / Total Effective Capacity) × 100

Utilization Targets
If you have added the Total Utilization chart to your custom private dashboard, you can also set up Utilization Targets to see how you are tracking compared to your goal.
To add targets, click on the Add Targets icon on the top right corner of the Total Utilization Chart on your custom private dashboard:
Enter a percentage for at least one of the following:
Total Utilization
Billable Utilization
Non-Billable Utilization
Once saved, you will be able to see the target on your chart:
➡️ Utilization Bands Chart
Shows the distribution of people across utilization bands over time.
Helps quickly assess workforce utilization health and identify how many people fall within different utilization bands (e.g., under-utilized, optimally utilized, or over-utilized). It also serves as a performance tracking indicator.
Placeholders are excluded from the Utilization Bands Insights.
Calculation Information
Counts only actual people in each utilization band, excluding placeholders.
Bands are categorized in 20% increments.
Total Utilization (%) = (Total Hours of People only / Total Effective Capacity) × 100
Billable Utilization (%) = (Total Billable Hours of People only / Total Effective Capacity) × 100
Non-Billable Utilization (%) = (Total Non-Billable Hours of People only / Total Effective Capacity) × 100
⚠️ If actual hours are available, actual hours will be used to calculate the utilization % in the Utilization Bands graph.
Band Colour Coding
Under Utilized (Blue) = 0% to 80%
Well Utilized (Green) = 80% to 100%
Over Utilized (Red) = 100% to 160% +

The Utilization chart shows your utilization rates so you can forecast if your people are under-utilized, over-utilized or tracking just right. Hover over a data point to see how your people's time is split between billable and non-billable work.
