Utilization Insights
Understand how effectively your team's time and resources are being used and gain insights into efficiency gaps and opportunities for optimization.
➡️ Utilization Bands
Shows distribution of people across utilization bands over time.
Helps quickly assess workforce utilization health and identify how many people fall within different utilization bands (e.g., under-utilized, optimally utilized, or over-utilized). It also serves as a performance tracking indicator.
Calculation Information
Counts only actual people in each utilization band, excluding placeholders.
Bands are categorized in 20% increments.
Total Utilization (%) = (Total Hours / Total Effective Capacity) × 100
Billable Utilization (%) = (Total Billable Hours / Total Effective Capacity) × 100
Non-Billable Utilization (%) = (Total Non-Billable Hours / Total Effective Capacity) × 100
Band Colour Coding
Under Utilized (Blue) = 0% to 80%
Well Utilized (Green) = 80% to 100%
Over Utilized (Red) = 100% to 160% +
⚠️ If actual hours are available, past actual hours will be used to calculate the utilization % in the Utilization Bands graph.

The Utilization chart shows your utilization rates so you can see if your people are under-utilized, over-utilized or tracking just right. Hover over a data point to see how your people's time is split between billable and non-billable work.

⚠️ The Utilization graph does not show historic data including the current period. The graph is based on hours allocated. It does not consider actual hours (timesheet entries) in the past.
➡️ Total Utilization
Gain a high-level view of workforce utilization over a selected period to assess operational health and efficiency.
✅ Filter people and placeholders using the filters you're familiar with from the planner.
✅ Include placeholder workload to show the impact of unassigned work.
✅ Toggle all or specific tentative workloads on or off to see their impact on utilization rates.
✅ Turn radial gauges on or off from the settings panel (top right corner).
