Rescheduling Projects
Rescheduling projects will affect your employee's workloads and may cause:
Conflicts with other projects resulting overallocation
Conflicts with time offs (vacation, rostered days off, public holidays) resulting in a reduction (or increase) in project hours
Best Practices
Set the existing project to Tenative.
Duplicate the existing project:
Add adjusted start date in the Project Name
Select the anticipated new start date
Toggle on Tentative and filter for the 2 projects
Toggle off the all other projects including the original with the current timeline and toggle on the project with the new time to see what happens to the employee's workloads and identify any issues you'll need to resolve. (Add placeholders and assignments to account for overallocations or conflicts)
Once the new start date is confirmed:
Convert duplicated project to Confirmed
Make new resourcing Requests as needed or transfer work to other available resources
Delete previous project (or archive if preferred)
Rescheduling or Extending Assignments
Rescheduling one or more assignments to account for slippage or extending an assignment for a project team member can have also create:
Overallocation conflict if they are already assigned to other work
Conflict with a time off which will reduce (or increase) project hours
Best Practices
Before you move or extend the assignment, click on the person's name to launch a split screen. You'll then see if they already have work assigned or if they have a time off period upcoming.
If there is no conflict, you can extend or move the assignment and the employee will now have an updated schedule. If you click on their name in the split screen- it will launch the side panel where you can add note if needed.
If there is an issue, add a placeholder & assignment to make a new request (or add another employee and assign work)
Be mindful of any red bars over assignments- this means there is an overallocation issue. However, conflicts with time offs will not be as obvious- so checking first can save a lot of headaches.
